Samsung’s next major One UI release will be 9.0, confirmed by code found in the leaked One UI 8.5 software. One UI 9.0, which will undoubtedly be based on Android 17, will be a more comprehensive update than One UI 8.5 and, hopefully, even One UI 8.0. Here are the details.
When will One UI 9 arrive?
The release of One UI 9.0 is estimated to be around a year away. However, given Samsung’s policy of bringing new Android and One UI versions to Galaxy devices more quickly, it’s rumored that the update could arrive earlier than One UI 8.0 (released on September 15th).
Next year’s new Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip flagship models are expected to ship with One UI 9.0 out of the box. Samsung’s first tri-fold foldable phone, expected to be released globally, may also come with this new interface. The Galaxy S26 series will launch with One UI 8.5 and will likely be one of the first devices to receive the One UI 9.0 update.
At this early stage, it’s impossible to say what new features Samsung is preparing, AI-powered or not. However, leaked One UI 8.5 software may offer some clues. Meanwhile, the One UI 8.0 update released for the Galaxy S25 series is expected to be rolled out to other devices this month.
